DENNIS-YARMOUTH SCHOOL DISTRICT INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS FOR THE CAPE & VINEYARD ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE’S SOLAR SYSTEM INSTALLATIONS AT DY SCHOOLS
Yarmouth, Mass. – On May 28th and May 29th the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District will hold public information meetings to provide information and answer questions on the ground mounted solar systems planned for Yarmouth’s DY High School, Marguerite E. Small School, Mattacheese Middle School and for Dennis’ Wixon School. The solar photovoltaic (PV) installations will be provided by the Cape & Vineyard Electric Cooperative at no cost to the host towns or to the DY School District. The savings in electrical costs from the installation of CVEC’s renewable energy projects at DY Schools is estimated at $195,000 in year one alone.
The public information meeting for the PV installations in Yarmouth at DY High School, Marguerite E. Small School, and Mattacheese Middle School will be held in the Mattacheese Middle School library located at 400 Higgins-Crowell Road, West Yarmouth, MA on May 28th at 7:00pm.
The public information meeting for the PV installation at the Wixon School in Dennis will be held in the Wixon School auditorium located at 901 Route 134, South Dennis, MA on May 29th at 7:00pm.
The PV installations are part of the Cape & Vineyard Electric Cooperative’s Photovoltaic (PV) Initiative Round 2. The Cape and Vineyard Electric Cooperative (www.cvecinc.org) was founded in 2007 to work in concert with the Cape Light Compact towards a more sustainable Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard through the integration of renewable energy. Currently, the non-profit energy cooperative has 20 town and county members. Members include the County of Barnstable, Dukes County, the Cape Light Compact, and the Towns of Barnstable, Brewster, Harwich, Dennis, Tisbury, Bourne, Eastham, Sandwich, Provincetown, Mashpee, Oak Bluffs, Edgartown, Orleans, Yarmouth, Falmouth, Chatham, and West Tisbury.
